Looking for a fun way to garnish a classic cocktail?  Pull out the sparkling sugar and make a Cosmopolitan with Lime Sugar Rim!Back when I worked in Atlanta (10 years ago already), I enjoyed my office.  The work was fun.  I had some great coworkers.  But man, the coffee in that office was terrible.  Like downright bad.  So, for Christmas one year, Laura gave me a single-serve coffee maker.  That changed everything!  I kept a box of K-cups in my desk drawer, and I was able to brew up a nice dark-roast coffee each morning.  In fact, I started a trend as two of my coworkers followed suit and got single-serve coffee makers for their offices, too.

Looking for a fun way to garnish a classic cocktail?  Pull out the sparkling sugar and make a Cosmopolitan with Lime Sugar Rim!Fast forward 10 years, and it’s time to revolutionize the drink world again!  The Drinkworks® Home Bar by Keurig® is a first-of-its kind product that allows you to prepare cocktails, ciders and spritzers at the touch of a button.  It is every bit as great of a gift idea as that single-serve coffee maker was 10 years ago.  The Drinkworks Home Bar made its debut in St. Louis back in November 2018…and it sold out within hours!  That’s how cool this machine is.  One touch and you’ve got your choice of spritzers, cider or cocktail ready in a few seconds.

Looking for a fun way to garnish a classic cocktail?  Pull out the sparkling sugar and make a Cosmopolitan with Lime Sugar Rim!With the Drinkworks Home Bar, there’s no need to make sure you’ve got all of the liquors and mixers needed for various drinks.  Instead, the Drinkmaker uses technology to add the perfect amount of water and carbonation to drinks.  The Drinkmaker uses liquid-filled pods to create the perfect cocktail each and every time.  These pods contain the necessary premium alcohol and mixers for each drink, so all you need to do is keep the Drinkmaker’s water tank full.  Plus, each drink costs less than what you’d pay in a bar or club.  That’s a win-win-win in my book!

Looking for a fun way to garnish a classic cocktail?  Pull out the sparkling sugar and make a Cosmopolitan with Lime Sugar Rim!For today’s post, I used Cosmopolitan pods from Drinkworks’ Classic Collection of cocktails.  Other drinks in this collection include: Margarita, Daiquiri, Long Island Iced Tea, Mojito, Moscow Mule, Old Fashioned, and Whiskey Sour.  And that’s only the Classic Collection!  For a full list of pods (including cider, spritzers and beer!), check out the Drinkworks site – there are currently over 2 dozen types of drinks available.

Perhaps its the food blogger in me, but I’ve always been a sucker for a good sugared or salted cocktail rim.  I often make lime salt for the rims of my Margaritas, so I decided to mix things up and go with a lime sugar for the rims of these Cosmopolitans.  A sugared (or salted) rim literally takes a minute or two to make, and it’s a fun way to garnish a drink.  (Of course, you can certainly just serve up your drink without the rim.  It’ll still taste delicious!)

Looking for a fun way to garnish a classic cocktail?  Pull out the sparkling sugar and make a Cosmopolitan with Lime Sugar Rim!When making sugar rims for cocktails, I recommend using a coarse sugar.  Traditional granulated sugar won’t stick to the rim as well – and it doesn’t look as cool, either.  I used sparkling sugar (the same stuff I put on top of baked goods), but turbinado sugar would be a good choice as well.  Similarly, if you’re making a salted rim for something like a Margarita, use coarse kosher or pretzel salt.

I literally just read an article about this machine a couple of days ago and was blown away that no one has made one before now–it’s brilliant! And cosmos happen to be one of my favorite drinks so. . .is it 5 o’clock yet?

    1. Well now that this machine has showed up twice in two days, I’m thinking that’s the universe sending you a sign! Perhaps your family needs one of these for Christmas? 🙂 Also, I hear that’s it’s always 5:00 somewhere. That’s the rumor at least. Haha. Thanks, Kelsie!

    1. We love to entertain in our house, so this machine is perfect for our bar! Plus, I’m always a sucker for that fun garnish like a salt or sugar rim. Just don’t get ’em mixed up! Salt for margaritas. Sugar for cosmos or other sweet drinks. Haha! 🙂

Cool idea! I hope they start putting those Drinkworks machines in hotels right next to the coffee pots. They’ve not made it over this as far as I can tell or Google.

    1. Hah! Now you’re talking, Ron. What a fun idea! These machines are pretty new, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they haven’t made their way over to you yet. I imagine they’ll be there soon, though! Cheers, my friend!

    1. Hahaha. You’re totally right there, Kathy. I don’t think this machine will make it into an office, but at a home bar? It’s perfect! 🙂 Cheers, my friend!

I am not really into cocktails, but I must agree that a neat and beautiful cocktail rim is an important part! Also, I’ve never realized that they’re already making machines like Drinkmaker – I guess I am not a trendy guys 🙂 But the best part? Those glasses! Awesome design and just so memorizing !

    1. I’m with ya on the garnishes here, Ben. Whether it’s a cocktail or an entree, the garnishes really take a recipe to the next level. 🙂 Also, technology is pretty cool. Can you believe they’ve come up with a way to make cocktails like this!? Hope you have a great weekend, my friend!

Well, isn’t this fun!? I love it. I always joke about how I can cook almost anything and I’m not in any way, shape or form, a mixologist. I need help in that department, and this might just be the answer. 🙂 ~Valentina
