I’m not normally a mint chocolate kinda guy. Maybe I’ll get a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone once each summer…maybe. (In truth, I’ll look at the Mint Chocolate Chip and end up ordering Cookies ‘n Cream instead.) But come the holiday season? I’m a fan of mint and chocolate together!
When it comes to no bake desserts, we typically see those during the warmer summer months. However, I’m going off script here and making a no bake dessert in the winter. Yes, it’s served cold. But it’s mint + chocolate, and those flavors are perfect for the holiday season. Serve a slice of this No Bake Mint Chocolate Pie with a mug of coffee, and you’ve got one heck of a tasty way to end the evening!
No Bake Mint Chocolate Pie
This No Bake Mint Chocolate Pie couldn’t be easier to make. You do have to plan ahead for the chilling time, but the actual process of making this pie is quite simple. Mix melted Hershey’s bars into half a container of frozen whipped topping. Mix peppermint extract and (optional) green food coloring into the other half. Spread them into a pie dish. Done!
For the pie crust, I opted for a homemade chocolate cookie crust. You could certainly just pick up an Oreo pie shell in the store, though. For me, I like making a homemade version as I can make the crust a little bit thicker than the store-bought version. Plus, there’s always a few leftover Oreos with the homemade version. Leftover Oreos are not a problem in our house!
For garnishing this pie, I kept it simple and just sprinkled some crumbled Oreos and crushed candy canes on top. Tip: To crush the Oreos and candy canes, put them in a Ziploc sandwich bag and then roll them with a rolling pin. I’ve tried other methods in the past, and I’ve ended up with candy cane dust all over the kitchen. Cleaning up peppermint dust from every surface in the kitchen is not how I want to spend my holidays!
Another (perhaps easier) garnishing idea would be to sprinkle chopped Andes mints or mini chocolate chips on top of the pie and the whipped cream.
This No Bake Mint Chocolate Pie is simply a twist off of one of my favorite summer no bake pies – this No Bake Chocolate Almond Pie. Add some mint extract and a bit of green food coloring, and you’ve got a fun holiday spin on this easy dessert recipe!
How to Store Leftover No Bake Pie
Leftover slices of no bake pie can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days. You can also freeze leftover slices for up to 3 months by wrapping them in plastic wrap and putting them in a freezer bag.
If you’re looking for a simple and fun dessert to serve during the holiday season, then put this no bake pie on the list. It goes great with a mug of strong coffee or hot cocoa! Happy (no) baking!

I do hope you get a chance to make this pie, Ramya! Chocolate + mint is a great flavor combination around this time of the year…and this pie is quite tasty!
I’m not really a person who’s into Oreos on their own (way too sweet to my liking). But somehow they work lovely as an ingredient in desserts. And in a mint-infused no bake cake? Terrific!
I’m not gonna lie. A fresh Oreo right out of a new package is pretty tasty. But I totally get what you’re saying, Ben. They are sweet. I do love using them to make crusts for pies. It’s an easy and tasty way to mix up the usual graham cracker crust.
Ooh love the color on this mint choco pie – reminds me of grasshopper pie! Perfect for my sweet tooth children! 🙂
That’s a great point, Michelle – this pie is certainly similar to a grasshopper pie! It’s a great one for the holiday season for sure. 🙂
This is a delightful twist on the traditional no-bake dessert, David. A delicious and refreshing mint chocolate pie is a great idea for this time of year. A treat for the taste buds!
This pie really is great for the holiday season, Neil! I’m not normally a chocolate-mint guy, but during the holidays I always crave that flavor combo. Who knows! Either way, happy holidays!
Your pie looks spectacular David. I love the chocolate and mint combination in icecream, so I know I would love it in a tart as well. I am so tempted when the supermarkets are accessible again after this huge rain event to go out and buy the ingredients and have fun making this and then eating it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Well if you already love chocolate mint ice cream, then this no-bake pie is absolutely calling your name, Pauline! 🙂 You should treat yourself and make this pie for the holidays – it’s an easy one! (The only thing to check is whether or not frozen whipped topping is a thing down there where you live. It’s common here, but I don’t know if that’s unique to the States.)
This is apparently one of the ways in which we differ, David. I LOVE mint and chocolate together. One of my favorite treats are those Frango chocolate mints that you get at Macy’s. (I know you can get them elsewhere, but can you see fantastic Christmas window displays elsewhere?) Peppermint patties I could eat all day and night. Mint chocolate chip ice cream completely elicpses Oreo in my eyes. So thank you for this no bake pie recipe!
There aren’t too many of these ways in which we differ, Jeff! With that said, I do always love chocolate + mint during the holiday season. I don’t think I’ve seen those Frango mints you mentioned. I love After Eight mints – are they similar? Either way, this pie is an easy and delicious sweet treat for when you’re craving chocolate mint!
I’ve loved chocolate mint anything forever, so you know I’m loving this treat! Love that it’s no bake!
No bake is usually a summer thing, but then again we’re all busy right now with holiday prep….so a good no-bake dessert is still very much acceptable! Serve it with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa, and you’ve got a real treat. 🙂
This No Bake Mint Chocolate Pie sounds like a match made in Christmas heaven! I love your honest confession about not usually being a mint chocolate fan (me too), but embracing it wholeheartedly during the holidays. It’s so relatable for those of us who succumb to seasonal flavors!
The holidays are all about embracing traditions…even if they aren’t the same traditions you enjoy throughout the year. This pie falls into that category!
i love mint and chocolate together tho hubby does not. This sounds splendid! and i don’t think we have that cool whip stuff here but i could be wrong. our supermarkets are increasingly crowded with american foodstuffs!
Mr. P and Laura would get along well then. 🙂 Laura isn’t a fan of mint chocolate, but I do enjoy it around the holiday season. Cool whip (aka whipped topping) is another one of those strange American ingredients. I’ve seen homemade versions before, so that could be a better option!
