As my wife will quickly point out, I’ve never been one for combining sweet and savory flavors. She loves sweet + savory. Me? Not so much. To be fair, I’ve found myself enjoying sweet and savory together in recent years, but it’s still not my go-to combination. That’s why this Fresh Peach Salsa took Laura by surprise.

More specifically, Laura was surprised at how much I loved this salsa. I couldn’t stop eating it! In fact, as I was standing in the kitchen eating chipfuls of this salsa, I told Laura, “I need to put this stuff away before I eat it all!”

Fresh Peach Salsa

The peaches are the shining star in this Fresh Peach Salsa. They bring just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the entire salsa. Add in the savory elements of tomatoes, a green bell pepper, onion, avocado and a jalapeno, and you’ve got an amazing combination of flavors. This salsa screams summer in the best way possible!

If you’re anything like me, then the thought of onions, peaches and tomatoes in the same recipe might give you a moment of pause. Trust me on this one, virtual friends. This Fresh Peach Salsa is amazing!

We ate most of this salsa with tortilla chips, but Laura pointed out that this combination would actually be great on top of grilled chicken. We tested out her theory that night with grilled chicken breasts, and she was right! Plus, topping that grilled chicken with this salsa made for a colorful presentation – perfect for summer meals on the back porch.

I will note that this Fresh Peach Salsa recipe makes a party-sized batch of salsa. I thought about reducing the recipe volume, but then you’d end up with ingredients like ½ of an avocado, ½ of a jalapeno and ½ of a green bell pepper. What would you do with all those random leftover ingredients? Well, make another batch of salsa probably!

I decided it made more sense (at least for me) to leave the recipe as is – just know that you’ll have enough salsa for a party. Either that, or you’ll have leftovers. (And I don’t mind leftovers one bit when we’re talking something as delicious as this Fresh Peach Salsa!)

This recipe is super easy in that there is no cooking required. Just hop in the kitchen, *chop* *chop* *chop*, *mix* *mix* *mix* and you’re all set! On a side note, this salsa does produce a fair amount of excess liquid as it rests. Just make sure to drain the liquid or scoop out the salsa with a slotted spoon before serving.

When fresh peaches are at the height of flavor in your area, pick up a couple extra peaches to make a batch of this Fresh Peach Salsa! It’s delicious either as a dip or a topping for grilled meat. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do – I’m off to see if we still have any leftovers in the fridge! Cheers!

    1. Hey Mimi! Cooked peach salsa you say? I’ve never tried that – now I’m intrigued! Either way, give this uncooked version a try if you find some good peaches in your area. We live very close to upstate SC now, and I’m kinda partial to SC peaches! I wish I could send you some!

Like Laura, I adore sweet and savoury combinations, so I know this salsa would be right up my alley!! I don’t even think there will be sharing, involved, LOL, because I’d want it all for myself. Gimme a big bowl of this peach salsa and some tortilla chips and I’m set. Definitely giving this one a go soon. It’s such a great way to use those juicy summer peaches!!

Oh my goodness yum! This peach salsa looks delicious David! The colors are stunning. I’m sure I could finish the entire batch in one sitting with a bag of tortilla chips, although I hope I’d have enough self-control to save some. This would be amazing over some grilled tofu. 😋

    1. Hey Shannon! Thank you so much – I do love colorful recipes. They’re so much easier in the summer with all of the fresh fruit and veggies, too! 🙂 I’d be impressed if you have the self-control to save some of this salsa. I thought I would have some…but I was wrong. Haha! And, yes, try some over grilled tofu and let me know what you think!

  4. I’m a huge fan of sweet and savoury combinations (shocking right?! lol), so it’s not surprising I’ve been playing with fruit salsa – which is a relatively new thing to me – this summer. My favourite variations so far have been with mangoes and strawberries, but peaches definitely would get in my next salsa. Super juicy, fresh, and tasty!

    1. Oooo…what if you did a combination of fruits, Ben? Like a tropical fruit salsa with peaches and mangoes? (Yes, I know peaches aren’t tropical, but I feel like the flavor profile of peaches and mangoes would go well together.) I’d probably avoid the dulce de leche in that one, though! 😉

    1. Same here, Kathy! I love all fresh fruit, but peaches definitely hold a special spot for me. This salsa really is tasty, and it’s a great way to enjoy fresh peach season!

  5. Peaches are at peak season. Wow, wow, for the peach salsa. A beautiful combination of flavors and textures.
I picked up peaches from the farmers market this past weekend. I am feeling inspired now.

    1. Yes! I love this time of the year, Velva. I can’t get enough peaches when they’re fresh and ripe like they are right now. We’re heading out next week to pick up a bunch from a nearby orchard – I can’t wait! I suspect another batch of this salsa will be on the menu. 🙂 Enjoy those peaches!!

    1. Oh that’s a great idea, Frank! Since it’s all fresh, it’s pretty easy to make – perfect for afternoon cocktails! I like where you’re heading with this idea…I might have to join in!

    1. We just picked up a 1/2 bushel of peaches over the border in SC – and the kitchen smells amazing! I think we’ll be making another batch of this salsa pretty soon. It’s a great way to enjoy fresh summer peaches! Thanks, Karen!

Loving this salsa, it sorts of complete the flavour cirlce specailly when peaches are a bit sweet and sour side, definitely better than any salsa without it.

    1. This salsa is perfect when peaches are fresh and ripe! We have a counter full of ripe peaches right now, and I think another batch of this salsa might be appearing soon! Thanks, Raymund!
