The weather has been really strange here in upstate New York this year. The normal chill in the air which typically arrives in September (heck, sometimes even in late August) never arrived. It stayed warm all through October. I think we even set some record high temps a couple of days this past month. But this rainstorm is bringing in the first of the chilly days, and I’m kinda excited about it. (Check back with me in February and see if I’m still excited, though…hah!)
The warmer temperatures have meant that our leaves stayed on the trees a lot longer this year. Normally the leaves are all down by early November. Not this year. Although, to be fair, this rainstorm is doing me a favor by bringing down a bunch of those stubborn leaves. And I don’t mind piles of wet leaves anymore! In past years, I would’ve cringed at the thought of piles upon piles of wet leaves. I used to rake them all onto a tarp and then drag seemingly endless loads of heavy leaves off to the back of our yard. But not this year!
The only difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys. I am living proof of that one! Robbie has plenty of toys, but none of them are very expensive. Dad on the other hand doesn’t have as many toys, but they cost a lot more. Case in point: I got a lawn vacuum back in the late summer to help with the leaves. This contraption hooks onto the back of our riding mower, so all I have to do is ride along and the leaves just magically disappear. Ok, maybe not magically…I do have to tilt the container over and dump the leaves once I finish riding the yard. But what used to take me hours upon hours of work now takes me about 45 minutes. I actually look forward to cleaning up the leaves now!
Even though a slight chill is returning to the air here in upstate New York, I’m still very much on the cold coffee treats train! This Caramel Maple Frappe is one of the latest creations, and I’ve seriously made this frappe 4 times in 4 days. It’s that good! We even made a batch for Robbie’s babysitter, and she texted us later that weekend asking for the recipe. I’m not kidding when I say this frappe is that good!
I know pumpkin spice is the Autumn flavor craze, but maple is on the rise. I’ve even heard maple described as the next pumpkin spice. Think about it. Coffeehouses all over our area have been advertising all sorts of maple coffee drinks. However, since I work from home, I don’t often get out to my favorite coffeehouse during the day. That’s where this Torani Real Cream Coffee Frappé Mix comes in. I grabbed a container during my weekly grocery run to Walmart last week…and then I promptly stopped back at the beginning of the week to get another container. This Frappé Mix is that good!
I took a page from our local coffeehouses and whipped up this Caramel Maple Frappe, and wow…just wow. This Caramel Maple Frappe comes together in less than 5 minutes. You simply pour the mix over ice, add other flavors (optional) and blend. *Bada bing bada boom* You’ve got a coffeehouse frappe right in your very own kitchen!
If you’ve ever checked out Torani’s lineup of flavored syrups, then you’re sure to find one or twelve flavors to try. We have bottles of their English Toffee syrup as well as their Sugar-Free Gingerbread Syrup sitting in our pantry right now. Can you imagine putting a holiday spin on this frappe using gingerbread syrup? Oh yeah, that sounds like a treat Santa needs this year! In fact, as I was adding that link, I spotted an apple syrup. Caramel Apple Frappe, anyone? Torani makes dozens of flavors, and the possibilities here are endless!
I like to start my day with a mug of strong coffee, but I’m all about fun coffee drinks once the afternoon and evening roll around. How about you? Do you enjoy a good frappe? Did you realize you can make them at home (in no time flat!) thanks to this Torani Real Cream Coffee Frappé Mix? I also grabbed a container of Torani’s Caramel Syrup to use both in the frappe as well as on top. The deep caramel flavor combined with the smooth flavors of maple syrup made for one heck of a delicious afternoon snack! Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some leaves to go
rake ride over. Cheers, friends!

Oh, Torani. Your pics remind me of my coffee shop days; my favorite chore was alphabetizing the bottles of Torani on inventory day :). Their caramel sauce is just edible (drinkable?) heaven! I can’t imagine how good it would be combined with maple, which happens to be one of my very favorite flavors ever. I’ll stop by around lunchtime for a frappe, does that work? Have a great afternoon, David!
Oh my gosh…alphabetizing all of the Torani flavors?? But they make so many! Why didn’t your coworkers just keep ’em in order as they went? 🙂 That caramel sauce is seriously heaven in a bottle! And I’m perfectly happy with a frappe around lunchtime today, Kelsie…come on over!
I do love rain too. There’s nothing better than staying inside, cozy and warm (preferably with a cup of chocolate or mulled wine), while it’s raining. I don’t actually mind walking under the rain – but only when I have a walk with an opportunity to return home as soon as I’m tired of the rain/wet. Indeed, due to the warm fall we’ve got the same story with the leaves! There are plenty of them being still on the trees (and many of them are still green too). That’s why I love forested areas/trails in this season. Walking when all these leaves are on the ground and make a cozy sound (and you can kick them once in a while to get them in the air) – this is so cool and relaxing. The only one part I don’t like about them – leaves around our house. But luckily I know one guy who’ll enjoy cleaning our backyard 🙂 Please grab this luscious frappe with you (cause cleaning the maple leaves and Maple frappe totally make sense) 😉
So I was actually down in NYC yesterday, Ben…and it was raining. But this wasn’t the curl up on your couch with a frappe and watch the rain type of rain. This was a cold, blowing rain that left me running from building to building. I much prefer the sitting on your couch with a frappe kind of rain! 🙂 And I hear ya about taking walks this time of the year. Bundle up in a sweatshirt and head out and enjoy the outdoors…that is, until a coyote crosses your path! Haha! And save those leaves for me, ok? I’m coming to get ’em!
It looks delicious! Amazing photos!
Thank you so much, Joanne! Cheers! 🙂
I’m not even a coffee drinker, but this maple frappe looks pretty delicious! Your leaf blower sounds like a pretty awesome tool. It reminds me of my dad’s snow blower.. Growing up we used to spend hours shoveling their big driveway, and nowadays he has the snow blown out of the driveway in 30 minutes flat!
You know, I bet this frappe could be made with Torani’s Sweet Cream flavored frappe base instead of the coffee flavored base! In fact, I might just have to make one of those this afternoon. 🙂 Also, yard tools are kinda anticlimactic when you get them, but man are they helpful when it comes time to do the chores! I bet I could just sit there riding along sipping a frappe while cleaning up the leaves…it’s that easy now! Haha! Thanks so much, Nicole!
This is a truly awesome and very palatable afternoon treat, David! Can I also add some other kinds of nuts?
Of course, Agness! Just make sure to chop ’em up finely so that they don’t sink to the bottom of the frappe. And this one is definitely an awesome afternoon treat! Thanks so much, my friend!
wow this looks so good! I actually love maple this time of the year, need to check out Torani Frappe Mix, sounds so good!
Thanks so much, Manali! I agree with you that maple is where it’s at! I know I never fully appreciated a good maple syrup until I got older, but man do I love it now! A touch of maple syrup plus the Torani Frappe Mix makes for one heck of an awesome afternoon drink! 🙂
I am not a coffee drinker, but I would love to try this frappe. You are lucky that you have had warmer than usual weather. We have been having really cold weather here in Minnesota.
So Torani actually makes a Sweet Cream flavor of this frappe mix if you’re not a coffee fan. (I do suggest at least trying the coffee though…it’s SO good!) And while we’ve had a warmer Fall than normal, I think Mother Nature is about to make up for it. We’re heading into a deep plunge in the next couple of days…and it’ll definitely be fireplace weather!! Thanks, Dawn! 🙂
Hahaha – I got a good chuckle over this “The only difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys.” Ahhh… too too funny – but, having peeked into my friend’s husbands garages, I have to agree! Lil Shashi and I were talking about how we missed out old, drafty home just a tad bit and then I got to thinking about all the raking I used to do and I stopped missing it immediately – if only I had a lawn vacuuming contraption my memories might have been different! 🙂
The weather has been so weird here too – 80s and 90s one week, then down to the 40s for like 4 days and then back into the 80s and 70s – currently we are back into 40s and 60s during the day (at least that was the case yesterday and today) but, warmer weather means I can dig into cups and cups of these – though I might have to fight Lil Shashi as the caramel frappe is her all time fav drink! Now am off to Walmart to pick me up some Torani’s Caramel Syrup!
Oh yeah, there are SO many tools and whatnots that come with home ownership. Some are essential. Others just make jobs easier. That lawn vacuum contraption definitely falls in the non-essential, but really awesome to play with category. In fact, I just did my last leaf run last night, and now it’s time to pack that bad boy away for the season. I didn’t realize that caramel frappes are Lil Shashi’s favorite drink! Now I know what to make her next time you guys venture into upstate New York! 🙂 And the maple twist is especially fun, too. Thanks so much, my friend!
I for one did not realize you could frappe at home. Bring on the maple!
These frappes are SO easy to make at home, Jeff! Maple + caramel is seriously a thing of beauty. 🙂 Cheers, my friend!
mmm this sounds like such a refreshing coffee treat! and love the sound of caramel and maple together (:
Caramel + maple is really an amazing combo, Heather! And I was surprised at how easy it is to make these frappes at home. SO good! We’ve seriously made these at least 4-5 times now…in like 2 weeks. 🙂
I love to try new flavors of frappe every now and then.. And I love maple too much! This sounds perfect for my evening binge.. I will have to ask my sister to pick up Torani’s Coffee Frappé Base and a couple of flavors on her next office trip..They do have a lot of exotic syrups!! Thanks for sharing David 🙂
Maple really is such a delicious flavor, and it deserves to be used more often! I love a good frappe, and I’ve gotta say that the maple + caramel combo here is quite delicious! Definitely put Torani’s frappe base (and some of their syrups!) on the list. They’re perfect for the holidays when you’re whipping up fun coffee drinks for the family! Thanks, Deepika! 🙂
Just 3 easy steps to a delicious Caramel Frappé coffee drink to wow guests or enjoy any day of the week! .
Thanks so much, Marie! This drink really is delicious, and it’s perfect for this time of the year, too! 🙂
