We both enjoyed a tall stack of pancakes for breakfast, and we had the chance to sample each of the various grades of maple syrup. (If you ever have the opportunity to try the different grades side-by-side, do it! It’s amazing how different they taste. The grades have nothing to do with quality, but rather when the syrup is made during the season.)
The winter snows were just melting away, and the farm was busy boiling maple sap down to the syrup that we all know and love. As we walked through their boiling room and production facility, we got to try several unique maple products. Maple cream is one of our all-time favorite treats, but we also discovered maple cotton candy (amazing!) and maple lemonade (equally amazing!). Maple syrup really is nature’s candy.
Sparkling Maple Lemonade
Since warm summer evenings with delicious burgers require a refreshing drink, I whipped up a pitcher of lemonade. Inspired by the maple lemonade we sampled last spring, I decided to take the idea one step further and make this lemonade with sparkling water. This Sparkling Maple Lemonade is a fun and refreshing drink that’s perfect for relaxing on the back porch. Or in a hammock.

I am such a tool…I always thought the grading was the quality! Then again in Australia there was only ever maple FLAVOURED syrup and then some expensive bottle which had a letter grade on it! You’ve totally got me craving some pancakes with a side of burgers now. The drink ain’t too bad either 😉
Pancakes with a side of burgers?? Man, you Aussies have some really strange eating habits! Haha…just kidding. Yup, I didn’t know that about maple syrup until we went on our tour. The real stuff is amazing, too! None of that maple flavored syrup we grew up eating as kids. I hope you had an awesome long weekend, mate!
This looks AWESOME! Delish!
Thank you so much, Courtney! I was inspired by you. 😉
David, I was so intrigued with the name that I basically didn’t read the post but went directly to the recipe. I’ve made a lot of lemonades in my life, and some of them turned quite outstanding. However, I’ve never incorporated maple syrup, and I guess I would never even think about doing that. Such a stunning idea which I’ve got to try! And you know, your blog is getting dangerous to me – every other recipe you post I’m ready to add in my waiting list (or even worse – run in the kitchen). Perhaps, I should set up a marathon and try only the ideas being posted by the other food bloggers. Great job (and have a lovely weekend)!
Every other recipe?? Does that mean that only half of my recipes are any good, Ben? Haha! Just kidding, mate, I totally know what you meant. You gotta give maple lemonade a shot…we made it sparkling because sparkling everything is awesome. But maple is such a fun sweetener for lemonade. It’s perfect for summer picnics!
If I mentioned all the recipes, that could sound like buttering you up! So I’m keeping that for the next occasion. And, David, I’ve got a new idea for you – Maple bread, Banana maple bread or even Maple lemon bread. That would be nicely paired with this lemonade. Don’t thank me for these awesome ideas – enjoy! 🙂
You told me not to, but I am totally thanking you for the Banana Maple Bread idea! That is genius!! 🙂
Grilling is one of the best parts of summer! How interesting and fun that you got to tour a maple farm and see the production process. This sparkling maple lemonade looks awesome! I wound never have thought to put that combo together. I may make this later and swap out the sparkling water for some sparkling wine! 🙂
Oooo…sparkling wine with lemonade and maple syrup?? Sign me up for that one! I do love grilling…not only is it delicious, but it often means hanging out on the back porch with good weather and good friends…and good beer of course! 🙂
This lemonade looks divine! Love the maple flavour – so good! 😀 I’m super excited to start grilling and get the BBQ out ready for the summer. Those burgers look delicious too! 😀 Have a great weekend, David!
Thanks so much, Jess! We did have an awesome weekend of grilling and maple lemonade. I hope you did, too! Here’s to a very long and warm (but not too hot) summer! 🙂
I had to Google Maple cream – and good gosh good golly – what decadence – I didn’t know about Maple cream prior to this post – The more I visit your blog, David, the more I see how deprived I’ve been!
This lemonade sounds so refreshing – I so love the use of maple instead of of sugar!
Oh man, you totally need to get some maple cream, Shashi! It’s so incredible on top of warm biscuits or toast. 🙂 I’ve heard you can make your own, but I haven’t ever tried doing that. Maybe I’ll have to try that soon. I hope you had an awesome long weekend, my Georgia friend!
Mmm a big glass of this lemonade sounds SO good right now!! 🙂
You’re telling me, Christina! We sipped on sparkling lemonade all weekend…and it was the perfect way to unofficially kick off the summer. I hope you had an awesome long weekend, too! 🙂
Hi David! This sounds very interesting! I have a bag of lemons, fresh mint in my side garden and a bottle of Amish maple syrup – just need to get some sparkling water. I’m thinking a little vodka wouldn’t be bad in this! Have a great weekend! 🙂
You are totally right, Dorothy! This maple lemonade would indeed be tasty spiked. We enjoyed it all weekend by itself, but next time I might have to add some more ingredients. Cheers to the summer!!
This is such a cool idea and I love the sub of maple syrup for sugar syrup in this lemonade- genius!
Thanks so much, Medha! It did make for one delicious drink…perfect for picnics on hot summer days!
I’m with Arman, this got me thinking of pancakes!
These photos are great, you made me want this drink and sparkling aspect adds another dimension.
Have a good one!
Thanks so much, Kevin! I hope you guys had an awesome long weekend out there…perhaps with some pancakes? 🙂
David, love this lemonade and will have to check out the Johnsonville grillers! have a great Memorial Day weekend!!!
Thank you so much, Alice! I hope you had an awesome long weekend, too. Here’s to a long summer full of delicious grilled food and drinks! 🙂
Oh wow! This drink sounds fantastic! Seriously clever! I would have never, in a million years thought of adding maple to lemonade, but I can imagine it tastes delicious ♡ I can’t wait to try this. And now I’m seriously craving a large stack of pancakes with it.. or maple cotton candy- what?!?thanks for sharing! Cheers!
Thank you so much, Cheyanne! My wife actually likes to keep a concentrated version of this maple lemonade in the fridge, and then she just cuts it with sparkling water when she pours a glass. I figured I’d just make an entire pitcher this time…you can’t go wrong with real maple syrup! 🙂
This drink sounds so refreshing. I am always thinking of ways to change the way I eat, but I often forget about making interesting drinks. Great idea!
I totally agree with you, Dannii! I don’t do enough interesting drinks, either. I’m always focused on the food side…but I forget to go and play with drinks, too. Here’s to a summer of delicious drinks and warm afternoons on the back porch! 🙂
Happy that you are a part of this campaign as well man! And this lemonade sounds amazing! Such a great idea to use maple syrup as the sweetener!!!! #wolfpackdrinks
This is totally a fun campaign. Glad we’re partners on this one! I’m all about some lemonade in the summer.
I would have never thought to sweeten lemonade with maple syrup. I love this idea!! I also love fresh squeezed lemonade in the summer. I especially love lemonades or sweet teas with a twist. I will keep this recipe in mind this summer!
This maple lemonade is super delicious, Tamara! It’s perfect for summer picnics or BBQs, and it will leave everyone talking about it for sure. 🙂
