And after you nibble on a piece of this bark, I bet it won’t last 10 minutes! This is the kind of recipe you need to hide in the back of your fridge. Put it in a container labeled ‘Last Week’s Brussels Sprouts’ or something similar. If you don’t, you might just come back and find this bark all gone.

This Chocolate Peanut Butter Bark also makes great teacher and neighbor gifts. Once it hardens, just chop it into rustic pieces and package it up in treat bags or cute tins. I promise no one will be sad about getting this bark as a gift – except maybe you when you realize the bark is all gone! (It’s ok. Just make an extra pan of bark. It’ll only take another minute or two!)

This easy no-bake treat features melted milk chocolate chips swirled with melted white chocolate chips and peanut butter. My son walked through the kitchen as I was pulling the pan out of the fridge. He nibbled on one piece and immediately said the bark reminded him of Reese’s peanut butter cups. Then he grabbed another piece. I couldn’t blame him. This bark is an easy, delicious dessert or treat that will be making many more appearances in our kitchen.

The best part about this Chocolate Peanut Butter Bark? It sounds and looks more gourmet than it is. No one would guess that this only takes 10 minutes to make!

Ingredients

  • Milk Chocolate Chips. Since the chocolate chips are one of the main flavors in this recipe, I recommend using a nicer quality brand. I opted for Ghiradelli Milk Chocolate Chips, and they worked well.
  • White Chocolate Chips.
  • Creamy Peanut Butter. I used Peanut Butter & Co’s Smooth Operator creamy peanut butter – it’s my newest obsession for everything from recipes to just classic PB&J sandwiches.
  • Chopped Peanuts. Grab a handful of peanuts and chop ’em up a bit. Then sprinkle them on top of the bark before it hardens. The crunchy addition gives the bark a wonderful texture, and the salty + sweet combo makes this dessert irresistible.
  • Chopped Pretzels. Similar to the peanuts, the pretzels add a salty crunch that takes this bark from good to great. Don’t skip the pretzels!

How to Make Homemade Bark

Making homemade chocolate bark is super simple.

  • Melt the milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Melt the white chocolate chips and peanut butter in a separate bowl.
  • Spread the melted milk chocolate on a parchment-lined sheet pan.
  • Drizzle the melted white chocolate + PB mixture on top. Use a toothpick or table knife to swirl the two chocolates together.
  • Press chopped nuts and pretzels into the top of the melted chocolate.
  • Refrigerate for ~1 hour, or until hard.
  • Chop into pieces. (Don’t forget to hide those pieces or they might just disappear!)

Variations

Chocolate bark recipes like this one also lend themselves to easy variations:

  • Swap out the peanuts for a different type of nut like almonds or pecans.
  • Use semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate.
  • Omit the pretzels and sprinkle dried fruit on top (dried cranberries work well).
  • Add some mini M&M’s or mini Reese’s Cups on top.

How to Store Leftovers

The only downside to this bark is that at room temperature the chocolate will melt in your fingers. The bark should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Serve chilled.

If you like the chocolate + peanut butter combo, then this Chocolate Peanut Butter Bark absolutely needs to make an appearance in your kitchen. It’s a new favorite around here, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Cheers!
