Rusty Nail

I’ve partnered with Ball Park to talk about tasty snacks, delicious drinks and good times with friends at the curling club! #ToughAndTender

The Rusty Nail is a classic (and simple!) cocktail that everyone should know how to make!Cancel that doctor’s appointment.  No need for a tetanus shot here.  This is one of those times (perhaps the only time?) when a Rusty Nail is a good thing!  This classic drink has appeared on all sorts of top cocktail lists, and it’s one of those drinks that everyone should know how to make.  Good news…it’s also incredibly easy, but more on that later!

Since this drink features two different iconic Scottish liquors, it’s only natural that we should also talk about an iconic Scottish sport.  Nope, not golf.  Curling.  Contrary to popular belief, curling indeed originated in Scotland and not Canada.  (Although in their defense, the Canadians pretty much own this sport on the international level.  I would know.  I actually watch curling on tv.)Continue Reading »

Blueberry Bourbon Smash

Garnished with lemon sugar, this Blueberry Bourbon Smash makes for
one heck of an awesome summer cocktail!

Garnished with lemon sugar, this Blueberry Bourbon Smash makes for one heck of an awesome summer cocktail!I love northern summers.  Growing up in the south, summers were still awesome…but the temperatures could be a bit much at times.  When we lived in Atlanta, we’d wake up at 7am on weekends to do yard work because it was too darned hot to do anything outside by 10am.  But northern summers are incredible!  It could be because the temperature doesn’t tip over 100°F each day, or it could be the mere fact that there’s no snow.  Throw in the fact that my grill is in use almost every night, and I am one happy camper!Continue Reading »

Watermelon Daiquiris

Blend up a batch of these Watermelon Daiquiris for some fun in the sun this summer!

Blend up a batch of these Watermelon Daiquiris for some fun in the sun this summer!4th of July.  For all of us here in the States, that means a mid-summer vacation day, BBQ’s with friends and of course fireworks.  Ah, fireworks.  I have good memories of going to the fireworks show every year with my family.  I remember sitting on a hillside waiting for it to get dark enough for the show to start.  I’m pretty sure I would ask my mom what time it was about every minute or so.  Ah, the joys of parenthood, right?  Haha…I kid!  I’m sure it would be fun to see the excitement on your kids’ faces when they see fireworks for the first time.  Or maybe they would just run away crying.Continue Reading »
