Go ahead! Reach in there and pull off a piece of this Pumpkin Spice Pull Apart Bread!
$67,619. That’s how much mom’s would make if they got paid for their work. That’s pretty legit! And most mom’s (Laura included) are working mothers…meaning they’ve got a day job and a night job. In Laura’s case, that means spending the day inventing cool things with metal alloys and then changing poopy diapers at night. (I gotta keep it real. And that’s real.) Of course, I do my best to share the workload that comes with raising a kid, but sometimes Robbie just wants his Mom to do it! Then he comes over to Dad when he wants to rough-house or needs a snack. Hah!
That “study” that came up with a salary of $67,619 is rather suspect. I mean some of the line items include being a Private Detective (to find out what kids are up to) at an hourly rate of $22.60 and being a Designer (for fixing up the house) at $23.05 a clip. And then they’re considering adding a Judge (to mediate family disputes) to the list for next year at $39 per hour. This study is purely unscientific, but it is still fun to consider all of the various things moms do each day.
For the record, I absolutely think that all of you moms out there are absolutely worth every single penny! No questions asked. For example, we had a terrible middle-of-the-night thunderstorm here a couple of weeks back. Robbie woke up crying and wanted Laura to hold him. She gladly sat with him for an hour even though she had to get up for an important meeting at work the next day. (Isn’t that how it always works with stuff like this??) I have no idea what that’s worth in terms of a study, but I know Robbie considered it priceless.
Turning our attention to today’s recipe, this Pumpkin Spice Pull Apart Bread is legit. As in, you might just eat it all before you realize it. There’s something just fun about pull-apart breads. I’ve made a savory version with this Pepperoni Pull Apart Bread, and then I did a classic Monkey Bread last winter. But seeing that we’re in the midst of pumpkin spice mania, I figured a Pumpkin Spice Pull Apart Bread needed to happen.
I love pulling off little bits of this bread and just popping ’em into my mouth. You can be all neat and use a fork to eat the slices (think french toast), or you can just get in there and get your hands dirty! Pull-apart breads are just perfect for serving when you have company in town or friends over visiting. (Partly because that keeps you from eating the whole loaf by yourself!) Pulling off bites of pumpkin spice deliciousness while chatting with family and friends is perfect for a chilly Autumn day! So brew up some tea or coffee, bake up a loaf of this Pumpkin Spice Pull Apart Bread, invite some friends over and just relax. Old Man Winter is coming, so enjoy the season!
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the annual salary for being a Dad clocks in at $24,738. The difference is the study estimates that Moms do 148 hours of work around the house each week while Dads cover 51.5 hours a week. But that’s assuming that you have a “traditional” household. Our household is definitely not traditional. I mean I spent the day yesterday taking pictures of Pumpkin Spice Pull Apart Bread. Now I wonder what the salary is for ‘eating Pumpkin Spice Pull Apart Bread’? I hope it’s a lot! Enjoy, my friends!
